Before and during the exhibitions, IPIM engaged with over 360 companies to highlight Macau’s investment advantages.

Three major trade shows in Macau, the 31st Macau International Trade and Investment Fair (MIF), the 2026 Portuguese-speaking Countries Products and Services Exhibition (Macao) (PLPEX), and the Macau Franchise Expo 2026 (MFE), drew over 90,000 visits and generated more than 1,100 business matching sessions. These sessions resulted in around 140 agreements, with more than 80 per cent linked to Macau’s “1+4” economic diversification strategy.

The Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) reported a 14 per cent increase in international investment proposals, with 78 companies from various markets submitting proposals for Macau. Twenty of these firms have already started or completed company registration procedures in sectors including technology and healthcare.

Before and during the exhibitions, IPIM engaged with over 360 companies to highlight Macau’s investment advantages. Sixty firms from Portuguese-speaking nations and eight from China proposed ventures targeting both Chinese and Lusophone markets.

Alongside the main events, more than 90 business and networking activities, such as seminars, industry forums, and specialized matchmaking sessions, were organized. These gatherings united companies from Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Americas, featuring offerings from tech advancements to agricultural products and intellectual property.

This year’s exhibitions followed an ‘Exhibition + Inspection + Matching’ approach, with participation from over 1,000 exhibitors. Thirty livestream sessions showcasing more than 200 exhibitors and 1,150 products reached a combined audience of over 5.8 million across digital platforms.

Representatives from 55 countries attended, reinforcing Macau’s position as a commercial link between China and Portuguese- and Spanish-speaking regions. The events also created over 2,000 employment opportunities, including roles for project teams and temporary staff, while collaboration with Hengqin and regional platforms contributed to these outcomes.

Under the ‘Macau + Hengqin’ initiative, organizers hosted 10 guided tours for around 300 business leaders from China, Portuguese-speaking nations, and other areas. These visits emphasized economic opportunities in Macau, Hengqin, and the Greater Bay Area.

Several major conferences were held during the exhibition period, including the 2nd Macau Sino-Portuguese International Agriculture Expo and the Fourth Business Conference on Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Development. These events highlighted Macau’s role in connecting mainland China with Portuguese- and Spanish-speaking markets, and showcased the city’s potential for economic growth and development.
