The Signature Longevity & Wellness Centre, launched by Fullerton Health Group of Companies in Singapore, prioritizes proactive health strategies over reactive treatments. Ho Kuen Loon, the group’s CEO, noted that individuals now seek to extend their health span, not just lifespan, citing evolving patient expectations as the driving force behind the initiative.

“The notion today is that they really want to increase their health span rather than just their lifespan,” Ho said. He added that the shift is reflected in conversations with clients, customers, and patients, as well as in the company’s own data.

The centre’s approach moves away from the traditional annual checkup model, with patients undergoing an initial assessment to identify health risks and returning every three or six months for targeted follow-up care. Ho emphasized the importance of frequency, stating, “You do not wait a year.”

For patients with conditions such as high cholesterol, interventions may begin with dietary and lifestyle changes before progressing to medical treatment when needed. “By doing all these things, we are very certain that we can avoid more costly treatment later,” he said.

The launch of the centre was also influenced by employer demand, with Fullerton Health covering over one million employees in Singapore. Employers are increasingly looking for evidence that preventive care delivers measurable benefits, which often emerge years after the initial investment.

Despite this, participation in health screening programs remains relatively low, with only about 20% to 30% of employees taking part, even when companies pay for the screenings. Ho noted that the company tries to convince people that participating is in their own best interest.

The centre operates alongside Aspire Surgery Centre, Fullerton Health’s day-surgery facility, and the company plans to evaluate the model based on clinical outcomes, patient recovery, costs, and patient feedback. Fullerton Health expects to open its next longevity and wellness centre in either the Philippines or Indonesia within two to three years.
