Mumbai is witnessing the final day of Ganpati celebrations as crowds gather to bid farewell to Lalbaugcha Raja. Devotees line the streets to see the idol’s last darshan before immersion at the city’s main water bodies, a moment that marks the culmination of the celebrations.
The mandal began the immersion after the traditional Uttar Puja, moving the procession through south Mumbai before it heads toward Girgaon Chowpatty, a key immersion point for the festival. Draws spectators who chant and drum as the idol travels.
Videos shared on social media show packed avenues, with chants and drums accompanying the march. Spectators line the route, hoping for a final glimpse of the revered figure.

City authorities have deployed extensive resources. More than 24,000 police officers and 25,000 municipal staff are on duty. The BMC provides 1,132 lifeguards, 85 ambulances, and 6,052 floodlights, plus 67 natural sites and 383 artificial lakes for immersion. These numbers reflect a coordinated effort to manage safety, traffic, and emergency response.
Earlier on September 24, the mandal closed its Charan Sparsh queue and ended Mukh Darshan at 11:59 pm. Online darshan remained available through official channels until the procession began, allowing distant devotees to participate without being physically present.
Police and civic teams continue to manage traffic flow and crowd movement at Girgaon Chowpatty and other immersion sites, aiming to keep the celebrations orderly and safe.
